Hey everyone!
I am officially the worst blogger, ever. I should have sent you guys one of these weeks ago. I didn't realize I'd be so busy on outreach, especially on outreach in Los Angeles. But even though my schedule is busy, that's no excuse. Most of you have been so wonderful in supporting me in all my mission adventures, and letting you know how I'm doing is the very least I could do.
I just started my second month of my SOMD (School of Ministry Development) outreach. I'm in Los Angeles, living on the YWAM base with 2 other girls from my school, Robyn and Deanna. We're pioneering a new idea that was created during my SOMD in October that we're calling the "Love Rescue Me Campaign". Basically we're trying to get the Body of Christ involved with existing organizations in the city that help people, and be the middle man to get them connected. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be, and God is really challenging us to see His heart for the people and what He has planned for this campaign. The campaign was inspired by God and the U2 song, 'Love Rescue Me'. The Urban department head, Lisa, got the vision from God, and we ran with it. It's a lot of fun, but a lot of hard work as well. Currently we're working with organizations in Los Angeles, hoping that, sometime in the near future we can go to churches with a presentation of which organizations in the city are helping make a difference, and ask them to volunteer along side of us and get involved.
We're also leaving for Seattle at the end of this month. Our original plan was to take Love Rescue Me to Seattle, and launch it there with the help of churches and organizations. Because it's taking longer than anticipated for everything to go the way we planned in LA, we're still praying hard as to what God has planned for us in Seattle. The girls and I had a prayer meeting for it this afternoon, and God told me that even though we don't have a plan as to what we'll be doing, or even where we'll be living, He does, and we need to expect the unexpected. He has things planned for us even though we don't. Robyn also got that "when we do the possible, God will do the impossible."
So that's the scoop for the last month I've been down here. After I get back from Seattle in April, I'm hoping to go home for a bit to relax before I come back to staff here at YWAM LA. I've committed to 2 years here on base, so I'm excited to see what God has planned for me during that time.
As most of you know, I have to raise support for outreach, and also for when I'm on staff. I don't have any continuous support as of yet. YWAM'ers pay to be on staff, and therefore we rely most on our supporters back home. I need a total of $2250 for my outreach of 3 months in Los Angeles, and Seattle. I have raised $670 total so far. I have no doubt that God will provide all the money, and therefore, I am doing my part in asking you to help me get the rest that I need. If God is possibly tugging at your heart while you're reading this, please pray about it, and feel free to contact me, or send a check to me here at YWAM. I am so grateful to all of you who take time out of your busy day to read this and pray for me. I know that God will bless you tremendously for your blessings to me. I will also pray and extra special blessing for you, aside from the many I already throw up to Him on your behalf. :) I can not thank you enough.
Also, if you feel that God is calling you to support me full time (which would be sooo wonderful!) once I'm on staff, all support you give is tax-deductible. I'll be starting sometime late April or early May. From there I'll need a minimum of $500 a month for staff fees and personal items. Unfortunately though, while I'm on outreach, support is not tax- deductible.
You can find my email, phone number, and address in the email I sent you, or you can message me on this if you need it again.
For Him, always,
Ky
PS. I'll post some pix from last month, so you can see what I've been up to. My computer broke last week, but praise to God, it was easily fixable, so now I can add those pix I've been meaning to add. Look for them soon! :)
