Get ready for the next 2 years!! It's you and me, YWAM LA!!
Hey Hey!
As I write this, I am sitting behind my new desk in Los Angeles as the official face of YWAM LA, the newest Receptionist!! "Hello, Youth With A Mission, this is Kylie" :)
One week ago, my wonderful parents dropped me off here in sunny Southern California, and after a restful weekend, I started working the Desk. I talk to anyone and everyone who comes to the base, or calls us on our telephone. I also do other random jobs such as sign out base vehicles, take offerings, transfer calls and sell stamps and postcards. It's a relaxing job, one that feeds both the introverted and extroverted side of me. I get to see tons of people and chat with them as they pass through or help them with anything they might need, and I also have down time in-between phone calls that I can have to work on different thing, such as this Blog!!!
I just wanted to write this blog to let everyone know that my hope for the next 2 years while here at YWAM LA, is that I'll find the time (and not procrastinate) in sending out a monthly newsletter to all who are interested. Please email me or call or text me if you would like to be on the mailing list. I would love to send you an update of my life and the things God is doing in me and in Southern California.
I miss you all!!
Talk to you soon!

Tacoma
Hey everyone!
I've made it to Tacoma, Washington, to begin the 2nd and final part of my outreach for SOMD. It's beautiful here. So green and fresh. It rains alot, which I'm not excited about, but I'm pretty sure I can handle it for a month. I think. I hope...
So, a rundown of my trip: We left LA on Wednesday morning and got to Sacramento around 2, where I caught up with my parents and got to see my brothers and sister. We had lunch together, and then I split up from my girls. They continued on to Chico, and I headed up to Roseburg, OR, with my dad and Tia to see my grandma. She is very sick, in ICU and I'm still very worried about her. I got to see her Thursday morning and talk and pray for her, but the whole time it was really hard watching her suffer. Her lungs are extremely bad from all the medication she takes for her diabeties, and she needs a breathing tube to stay alive. She is such a fighter. After I left that afternoon, she woke up and tried to mouth "I love you" to my family. She's getting better, but still needs a lot of prayers.
Robyn and Deanna left Chico Thursday morning, and we got back together outside of Roseburg, and continued on to Pullayup, WA. We stopped for dinner in Mount Hood, and that's when the adventure really started. We were supposed to contact the person we were going to be staying with when we got close, but when we dialed his number, we found out that we had the wrong one! Robyn called her sister to ask her to check her email to make sure we had written it down correct, and when it turned out that we had, we didn't know quite what to do. Luckly Deanna remembered that Art's (our contact) sons worked at this coffee shop called Forzas. Luckily there is only one Forzas in Pullayup, and when the GPS couldn't locate it, Dee remembered that it was next to the only park in Pullayup. She was able to pinpoint it, and we found Forzas without getting lost once. (Pretty amazing, since we always get lost, even with the GPS). Forzas ended up being closed, (it was pretty late by this time) so we knocked on the door until someone answered. We felt really silly asking the lady if she had Art's number, or one of his boys, but luckily she had one of his son's numbers. Robyn then called him, left a voicemail, and we waited. (You have to understand, we were basically peeing our pants from laughing so hard at this point, because our silly adventure was actually working. We had about 10 other back up plans as to what we could have done if we couldn't get ahold of Art.) Finally the son, Daniel, called us back, found his dad, who was at a college retreat with him, and long story short, Art left worship, came and got us, took us to our host's house, and said he'd see us in the morning. It was a crazy, fun, adventurous night, and we knew from that moment that God had his hand in all our adventures here in Washington.
We spent friday shopping with one of Art's administrators, and we ended up back at Forzas for coffee with Art. We planned our return trip with him at the end of March, and then we spent the evening hanging out with our hosts, who were so amazing and hospitable.
Saturday morning took us to Ryan and Amy's house in Tacoma, who we'll be staying with all month. They are wonderful, and I feel like I've been here for way longer than 2 days. They have 3 boys: Ben 8, Adam 6, and Peter 2. They are a handful, but I love them already and I love playing and hanging out with them.
This week is already getting full for us. We learned how to break dance on Saturday night (I still don't know how to do it, and I hurt!) and we spent yesterday with the family, and then had a wonderful church service last night where we heard the testimony of the first Blood gangster of Tacoma. It was wild!! This week we have a lot of assemblies and what not because the Power Team is coming!! (thepowerteam.com) I'm really looking forward to everything this week, and this coming month. I know God has His hand in everything here, and I'm so pumped to watch it all play out!
Thanks for prayers for my grandma, and for safe travels. Miss you all so much!! See you in April!

Outreach!
Hey everyone!
I am officially the worst blogger, ever. I should have sent you guys one of these weeks ago. I didn't realize I'd be so busy on outreach, especially on outreach in Los Angeles. But even though my schedule is busy, that's no excuse. Most of you have been so wonderful in supporting me in all my mission adventures, and letting you know how I'm doing is the very least I could do.
I just started my second month of my SOMD (School of Ministry Development) outreach. I'm in Los Angeles, living on the YWAM base with 2 other girls from my school, Robyn and Deanna. We're pioneering a new idea that was created during my SOMD in October that we're calling the "Love Rescue Me Campaign". Basically we're trying to get the Body of Christ involved with existing organizations in the city that help people, and be the middle man to get them connected. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be, and God is really challenging us to see His heart for the people and what He has planned for this campaign. The campaign was inspired by God and the U2 song, 'Love Rescue Me'. The Urban department head, Lisa, got the vision from God, and we ran with it. It's a lot of fun, but a lot of hard work as well. Currently we're working with organizations in Los Angeles, hoping that, sometime in the near future we can go to churches with a presentation of which organizations in the city are helping make a difference, and ask them to volunteer along side of us and get involved.
We're also leaving for Seattle at the end of this month. Our original plan was to take Love Rescue Me to Seattle, and launch it there with the help of churches and organizations. Because it's taking longer than anticipated for everything to go the way we planned in LA, we're still praying hard as to what God has planned for us in Seattle. The girls and I had a prayer meeting for it this afternoon, and God told me that even though we don't have a plan as to what we'll be doing, or even where we'll be living, He does, and we need to expect the unexpected. He has things planned for us even though we don't. Robyn also got that "when we do the possible, God will do the impossible."
So that's the scoop for the last month I've been down here. After I get back from Seattle in April, I'm hoping to go home for a bit to relax before I come back to staff here at YWAM LA. I've committed to 2 years here on base, so I'm excited to see what God has planned for me during that time.
As most of you know, I have to raise support for outreach, and also for when I'm on staff. I don't have any continuous support as of yet. YWAM'ers pay to be on staff, and therefore we rely most on our supporters back home. I need a total of $2250 for my outreach of 3 months in Los Angeles, and Seattle. I have raised $670 total so far. I have no doubt that God will provide all the money, and therefore, I am doing my part in asking you to help me get the rest that I need. If God is possibly tugging at your heart while you're reading this, please pray about it, and feel free to contact me, or send a check to me here at YWAM. I am so grateful to all of you who take time out of your busy day to read this and pray for me. I know that God will bless you tremendously for your blessings to me. I will also pray and extra special blessing for you, aside from the many I already throw up to Him on your behalf. :) I can not thank you enough.
Also, if you feel that God is calling you to support me full time (which would be sooo wonderful!) once I'm on staff, all support you give is tax-deductible. I'll be starting sometime late April or early May. From there I'll need a minimum of $500 a month for staff fees and personal items. Unfortunately though, while I'm on outreach, support is not tax- deductible.
You can find my email, phone number, and address in the email I sent you, or you can message me on this if you need it again.
For Him, always,
Ky
PS. I'll post some pix from last month, so you can see what I've been up to. My computer broke last week, but praise to God, it was easily fixable, so now I can add those pix I've been meaning to add. Look for them soon! :)
